Fort Fisher’s WWII Experience

Join us Saturday, October 12, 2019, for Fort Fisher’s World War II Experience: ‘This is My War Too’. This family-friendly living history program will examine Fort Fisher’s role in training Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalions during World War II and the women who served in a supporting role.

Military and civilian re-enactors will set up displays on the old Fort Fisher airstrip and will be available to discuss historic weapons and the life of World War II soldiers. Throughout the day, there will be speakers, authentic 1943 Willys jeep rides, a paint-a-soldier workshop and a Nerf anti-aircraft simulator. The program is free and open to the public. Donations are requested to help off-set the cost of the toy soldier and jeep ride activities.
