Plantation Village Hosts 5th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Battleship North Carolina

On Monday, November 11, Plantation Village, a non-profit Life Plan Community in Porters Neck, will host its 5th Annual Veterans Day celebration on the fantail of the Battleship North Carolina to honor the 83 veterans who call Plantation Village home. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and more than 50 active duty Marines and Sailors from Camp Lejeune will be on hand to personally escort each veteran on board the Battleship.

This year’s Veterans Day event also celebrates the recent publication of “Answering the Call, A Story of Everyday Valor,” a limited edition, 64-page, archival quality hardcover book that profiles 28 WWII veterans who live at Plantation Village. WWII veterans profiled in the book will be in attendance and available for interviews.

The Veterans Day event is typically reserved for Plantation Village residents and guests but will be expanded this year to include local elected officials and dignitaries. Kevin and Michael Maurer, co-authors of Answering the Call, will also be in attendance to sign books. Books may be purchased at the Veterans Day event on November 11, and may also be ordered online at any time at PlantationVillage.PictorialBook.com. The hardcover book will sell for $50 each and proceeds will go to support veterans’ charities.
